Personal & Professional Biography Writing

My Background

742DD9F2-EDC1-483F-AB6D-B5F7201483EF.jpe

If there's one thing that 30 years of practicing law has taught me, it's human nature. I have had the rare opportunity to work with people from just about every walk of life ranging from business leaders to entrepreneurs and from small, local farmers to international pharmaceutical giants. I've absorbed minute, specific facts as well as vast worlds of knowledge about each client and each case. I'm an expert in interviewing people, understanding exactly what makes them "tick", asking insightful questions, and making connections that they hadn't noticed before as I wove together the intricate tapestries of their stories.

Looking back on a successful career as an attorney, both in and out of the courtroom, I have thoughtfully crafted narratives in one form or another.  It's second nature to me to appreciate the big picture while focusing in on the important details. So is my desire to honor people's lives; to ensure that their stories are told; and to put their voice in the best, most authentic light possible.

Although I'm no longer practicing law I'm still utilizing my writing talents, only now to weave beautiful and meaningful stories for clients of a different sort. I love getting to know people, listening to their personal and professional journeys, capturing their experiences and philosophies in writing, and becoming an integral part of highlighting their life stories and memories. It is an absolute pleasure for me to apply my talents and skills to preserve their legacy and their evolution.

My Inspiration

Capture One Session1050.jpg

A few years ago a dear family friend built a floor to ceiling book case in my home. After spending time decorating the shelves with my favorite books, photos and mementos, I took a step back to assess their placement, color schemes, and overall balance. What I actually saw was so much more than the aesthetics. I began see my own life story emerging right before my eyes.

I could see the various stages I went through, milestones, meaningful events, close friends, and beautiful vacations. I saw the results of my life decisions literally situated on the shelves. What was even more remarkable, however, was that I could see a flow and a cohesion to my life. Things made sense and the fruits of my decisions were so much more beautiful than I had ever imagined.

What a lovely way to honor someone special by capturing their life's journey as they worked through struggles and celebrated triumphs, adding color and context, sharing their invaluable insights, and preserving their legacy.

My Suggestions

Everyone has an incredible story to tell. And everyone deserves their incredible story to be told. Your personal or professional biography is one of the best gifts you could ever give or receive. It's thoughtful, original, and meaningful to the story teller as well as to the recipients. Here are some of the best reasons to have a personal or professional biography written:

To give your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren a glimpse of your life (and their own family history) they would otherwise not know

To highlight the experiences that shaped your life and made you who you are today

To provide color and context to the invaluable wisdom and life lessons you've learned along your journey to pass down to your family and close friends

To show your parents, grandparents, or any family member, how significant and meaningful their life story is by capturing their memories and milestones, and honoring their life with a gift they will always cherish

To share with others your advice, anecdotes, lessons and professional drive as you built your career success

A personal or professional biography is unquestionably one of the best gifts you could ever give or receive. I would love to be an integral part of preserving and sharing your legacy.
